It’s almost time for one of our favorite holidays! That’s right, St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and the people of Conshy really know how to celebrate.

Not only do we host a huge St. Paddy’s Day parade that attracts people from all over Montgomery County and beyond, but there are also some fun pre- and post-parade events for you to enjoy. Here’s everything you need to know about how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Conshy this year!

The 2020 Conshohocken Parade

St. Patrick’s Day is Tuesday, March 17th. The annual Conshohocken St. Patrick’s Day Parade is always celebrated on the Saturday before. This year, it’s Saturday, March 14th. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Virus.

Named the “Best Little Parade,” this event is usually full of music and entertainment that is always a hit among spectators of all ages. Since the route is lined with restaurants and pubs, you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to enjoy food and drink specials throughout the day.

The parade usually kicks off at 2 pm. It begins at the intersection of 11th Avenue and  Fayette Street. It then heads down Elm Street and ends at the Washington Fire Company.

After the parade, a bus will bring participants to AOH hall, where they can enjoy an after-party starting at 5 pm. This will include food, drinks, and parade prizes.

Pre- and Post-Parade Events

If you’re not participating in the parade, you’ll still have plenty of chances to celebrate throughout the day. If you’re the active type, you can kick your St. Patrick’s Day off with the 7th Annual Conshohocken St. Paddy’s Day 5k Classic. This pre-parade race supports Conshohocken Fire Co #2. It will start and end at the fire station, with participants running a double-loop along Fayette Street. Participants will receive an authentic race shirt and a finisher medal and enjoy refreshments, prizes, and a post-parade party held at The Boathouse.

Not a runner? No problem! You’ll want to start off your day by heading over to Brunch for their pre-parade festivities. This BYOB cafe will be offering Irish-themed food specials and Irish music on the day of the parade from 8 am until 2 pm. Here you’ll find fun treats like Irish Potato Pancakes and Shamrock Hot Cocoa.

George Washington Wood Bed & Breakfast is also celebrating  on the day of the parade from 1 pm until 3 pm. There will be tasty treats (even for your furry friend!), giveaways, and a chance to enter a raffle for a cool prize.

Continue the party after the parade ends at All American Pub, where Oakwyn will be performing from 7 pm until 11 pm.

The History of the Conshy St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The original St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in 1992 in Norristown. However, there were problems with the crowd, and, in 2005, parade officials decided it was time for a change. In 2006, it was moved to Conshohocken, and organizers quickly learned that Conshy is a parade town! The first parade attracted thousands of spectators, and it has continued to grow every year.

Today, the parade is one of the biggest events in the county, attracting over 20,000 people along the one-mile parade route!

No matter how you choose to celebrate, the owners and staff at Battaglia Auto hope that the Luck ‘O the Irish finds you on St. Patrick’s Day and every day of the year!
